Emergency Management British Columbia (EMBC) is the lead coordinating agency in the provincial government for all emergency management activities. As such, EMBC’s mission is to be responsible to British Columbians for leading the management of provincial level emergencies and disasters and supporting other authorities within their areas of jurisdiction. EMBC works directly with local governments, First Nations, provincial ministries and agencies, federal departments, other jurisdictions, industry and volunteers in hazard mitigation, preparedness, response and recovery.
The Project Coordinator, in the Disaster Mitigation Branch provides critical project management coordination for a portfolio of disaster mitigation projects with significant impact on public safety and fiscal allocations. This role is responsible for technical project management functions including tracking and analysing of projects throughout the project management life-cycle.
Effective planning, organizing and coordinating skills are a requirement in this busy role, as you capably manage high volumes of work that require a high level of attention to detail. In order to be considered for this position, your application must clearly demonstrate how you meet the education and experience as outlined below:
- Degree, diploma or equivalent in a related field (i.e. business administration, public administration, natural resource, geography, or planning fields).
- A minimum of one year experience in procurement, contract management, and directing the work of contracted resources
- A minimum of one year experience in financial monitoring, tracking, and reporting.
- Experience providing project management and coordination services for assigned projects.
- Preference may be given to applicants who have experience in database management including Microsoft Excel and/or Access.
Candidates must be able and willing to:
- Travel occasionally
- Work flexible hours and be available for emergency activations 24/7
