The Role: The Director, Health Authority Capital, ensures that appropriate structures and processes are in place for effective Ministry of Health oversight of Health Authority capital projects (with expenditures of approximately $3 billion over three years). The role requires sensitivity and tact in the reconciliation of frequently divergent interests and conflicting values to arrive at decisions that may broadly affect all aspects of health care delivery across the province.
The Director provides timely advice and direction to senior staff of both the Ministry and Health Authorities regarding all aspects of capital project development from planning through construction. The Director exercises delegated authority to resolve disputes, negotiate or mediate issues involving one or more health authorities, or address capital issues that have been referred from Treasury Board, the Ministry of Health, or Health Authorities.
