The Financial Institutions Commission (“FICOM”) regulates pension, financial services and real estate industries in British Columbia. This regulation is designed to protect the public against the insolvency of financial institutions, prevent improper market conduct in the financial services and real estate sectors, provide deposit insurance for members of B.C. credit unions and ensure the solvency of pension funds.
The Senior Analyst analyzes emerging trends within the financial services industry with respect to capital rules, liquidity frameworks, accounting policy, audit standards and disclosure practices that would enhance prudential regulation and supervision of regulated financial institutions. Work includes technical reporting guide development and consultation, and conducting research on and leading the implementation of modern financial regulations and standards.

In order to be considered for this position, your application must clearly demonstrate how you meet the education and experience as outlined below:
Degree in a field related to commerce, business administration, finance, economics, accounting or another relevant discipline; OR
An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
Minimum three years of experience developing, interpreting and/or applying accounting policy and standards in the financial sector, regulatory agency or related field are required.
Experience working with credit union, insurance, trust and/or banking sectors.
Demonstrated experience writing clear and concise documentation such as reports, briefing notes, technical reporting guides.
Preference may be given to candidates with the following:
Accounting and/or risk management designations.
Experience working with Basel guidance on capital and/or liquidity and developing metrics.
