Disability Benefits Administration in Workplace Health and Safety has corporate responsibility for the mitigation and control of the Province’s WCB, LTD and STIIP claims, impacting 30 Employers and over 40,000 employees in the public service, crown corporations, agencies, boards and commissions. This responsibility is conducted within the confines of the WCB Act, Collective agreements, Terms and Conditions for Excluded Employees and other relevant legislation including Human Rights Act, Employment Standards Act and Public Service Act.  The program emphasizes an outcome-based approach using disability management principles and best practices to reduce the costs of public service disability benefits.

The Coordinator, Safety Claims & Health Surveillance reports to the Manager Disability Benefits Administration in Workplace Health and Safety. This position provides client facing assistance with WorkSafeBC Claims, coordinates Occupational Health Monitoring and data analysis while administrating financial/contract management for multiple work unit programs and services. Job Requirements:

In order to be considered for this position, your application must clearly demonstrate how you meet the education and experience as outlined below:

  • Related Post-secondary degree, AND a minimum of one year of related experience; OR,
  • Related Post-secondary diploma or certificate representing two years of study, AND a minimum of three years of related experience; OR,
  • Secondary school graduation, plus related post-secondary course(s) and/or training, AND, a minimum of five years of related experience.
  • Related experience and education includes human resources, business administration, public administration, occupational health and safety, etc.
  • Preference may be given for experience in one or more of the following:

– Analyzing data, summarizing and presenting findings
– Working with databases, corporate systems, or case management systems
– Occupational health and safety related terminology
– One year experience understanding and applying government policies, regulations, legislation, or collective agreements, to address internal or external customer inquiries (experience with health and safety policies, regulations or legislation preferred)

  • Experience with computerized applications such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, CAS, CHIPS, and databases that support work unit program administration. (experience with financial, human resources, or customer relationship management applications preferred)
  • Experience interacting and responding directly with customers to assist with issues affecting the workplace.
