Position Summary
Interior Health (IH) is hiring a Human Sciences Student to join the Pulmonary Rehab program within the Physiotherapy department. This position is based out of the Kelowna General Hospital. This opportunity is available from approximately July 6, 2020 to September 4, 2020.

This position will assist with development of the Pulmonary Rehab Program currently offered by Interior Health to those in the Central Okanagan. In addition to working with the IH Allied Health professions of physiotherapy and respiratory therapy, this position may also include collaboration with additional stakeholders such as community recreation centers. The focus during the term will be to contribute to program development through researching available pulmonary rehabilitation resources. An emphasis will be placed on identifying opportunities to expand virtual care, including education, as well optimizing use of existing community based opportunities to successfully support transitions from the Pulmonary Rehab program to self-management.

TYPICAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Assisting with review of current literature regarding best practice for Pulmonary Rehabilitation and Chronic Disease Management
2. Assisting with review of educational resources for Pulmonary Rehabilitation
3. Assisting with review of opportunities to expand virtual care for Pulmonary Rehabilitation
4. Assist with identifying existing community and/or virtual based programs that could potentially support long-term self-management.
5. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications
Education, Training and Experience:
• Enrolled in a post- secondary program, preferably 2nd, 3rd or 4th year student.
• Prefer a student working towards a degree in Allied Health (Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy, Kinesiology, Vocational Rehabilitation, etc.)
• Valid Class 5 Drivers

Skills and abilities:
• Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
• Ability to deal with others effectively.
• Ability to organize work.
• Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.
