Position Summary
If you are a Registered Nurse (RN) who is experienced in Infection Prevention and Control practice, then prepare to join our innovative and growing team at Interior Health. We have an exciting relief full time Infection Prevention & Control Practitioner at our Royal Inland Hospital in Kamloops, B.C. This relief is until August 31, 2021 or return of the incumbent.

The Infection Prevention and Control Practitioner (ICP) promotes excellence in infection prevention and control practice and education, through the application of clinical skills combined with specialized infection prevention control practice and knowledge; within a patient and family centered care model.

The ICP utilizes risk management and continuous improvement methodologies in leading programs and providing expert advice. Acting as a specialty education resource with a wide ranging client base including; patients, physicians, nurses, health care leaders and health services. The ICP provides consultation, collaboration, advocacy and teaching in infection prevention and health promotion best practice and epidemiological principles.

Education, Training and Experience:

• Graduation from an approved School of Nursing with current practicing registration with the British Columbia College of Nursing Professionals (BCCNP).
• Three (3) years’ recent relevant clinical experience in an acute or community setting, including two (2) years’ relevant experience in a designated clinical area, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
• Completion, or current enrollment in an approved IPAC Canada sponsored and endorsed Infection Control course
• Current Certification in Infection Control (CIC) with the Certification Board for Infection Control and Epidemiology (CBIC), or expectation that Certification in Infection Control (CIC) will be obtained within two (2) years of hire.
• Knowledge of the interrelationships between Acute, Residential, Community Health and Public Health Resources in the health delivery system.
• Strong working knowledge of program development and implementation and performance measures.
• Valid Class 5 vehicle license required.
