The Security Analyst carries out vulnerability assessments on a variety of information technology and operational technology applications, networks and IoT devices at the Ministry’s Regional Transportation Management Centre in Coquitlam, BC. Working closely with engineering staff, Information Management Branch staff and the Network Communications Architect, the Security Analyst provides security recommendations on the configuration of technology deployments in the field. The Security Analyst researches, investigates and responds to incidents, threats, and exposures, identifies root cause, and implements controls and risk-reducing measures to mitigate future threats. The Security Analyst performs on-demand web application security assessments using various open source tools, gathers and interprets the results, effectively communicates the findings to stakeholders in various formats (e.g., presentations, reports, and meetings), and works with stakeholders to identify and implement solutions. The Security Analyst also performs internal reviews to monitor compliance with government’s security and privacy policies and advocates for alignment with industry best practices.

Job Requirements: In order to be considered for this position, your application must clearly demonstrate how you meet the education and experience as outlined below:
University Degree in computer science field or equivalent and two years related experience; or
Diploma in computer science field or equivalent and four years related experience; or
Secondary school graduation and eight years of related experience.
Experience with the use of vulnerability discovery tools, such as fuzzers, NMAP, Burp Suite, or Open Web Application Security Project Zed Attack Proxy (OWASP ZAP), or equivalent
Preference may be given for:
Attainment of or working towards attainment of a professional designation as a Certified Ethical Hacker (CEH), Systems Security Certified Practitioner (SSCP) or Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), or equivalent. Working towards means having passed the examination and be in the process of acquiring the necessary experience.
Experience working with Operational Technology (OT).OT is defined as hardware and software that detects or causes a change through the direct monitoring and/or control of physical devices, processes and events in the enterprise.
Experience conducting security threat risk assessments or web application security assessments.
Experience in Project Management.
