Mental Health & Substance Use Nurse – Youth Intensive Case Management Team

Position Summary

A relief full time opportunity exists for a Mental Health & Substance Use (MHSU) Registered Nurse or Registered Psychiatric Nurse to join the warm and caring mental health team in Kelowna. If you have previous experience working directly with youth and in a community Mental Health & Substance Use environment, we would love to hear from you.This position will be a part of a new Youth Intensive Case Management team. This team will be interdisciplinary and will provide case management in accordance with the guidelines for high risk youth problematic substance use, concurrent disorders and/or mental illness. The team will also work closely with partners across the community to provide wrap-around services for clients.

As the MHSU Nurse, you will work with the broader community health care team and as a member of a specific MHSU multi-disciplinary team whose purpose is to ensure that persons experiencing substance use problems/disorders or concurrent substance use and mental health problems have access to timely, responsive, evidence based treatment and clinical supports across the continuum of available services.

Shifts of work are Monday to Friday, 09:30-17:30. This relief position will run until approximately November 5, 2019.

Graduation from an approved school of nursing.Two years’ recent related MHSU experience in the assigned clinical area(s) (such as Adult Short Term Assessment and Treatment (ASTAT), Adult Community Support Services (ACSS), Urgent Response, Elderly Services, Alcohol & Drug, Developmental Disability Mental Health Services (DDMHS), etc.) or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

Current practicing registration with the British Columbia College of Nursing Professionals (BCCNP).

Current valid B.C. driver’s license.

**Experience working directly with youth and community mental health & substance us is an asset.
