The Ministry of Advanced Education, Skills and Training (AEST) provides leadership and direction for a dynamic, integrated and responsive post-secondary education and skills training system as well as labour market information and programs in British Columbia. A collaborative, innovative, high quality post-secondary education sector is vital to fulfilling provincial and regional labour market needs and positioning B.C. for the future.  The Ministry is responsible for the British Columbia Council for International Education (BCCIE), a provincial Crown corporation that promotes international education in and for the Province of B.C.

The Planning, International and Intergovernmental Branch is broadly responsible for business and service planning, corporate planning, international education and intergovernmental relations. The Branch is also responsible for BCCIE.

Operating under limited direction, the Senior Policy Analyst coordinates and leads the research, analysis, development and implementation of strategic policies and legislation for significant ministry priorities related to international education.  The position also works with BCCIE to develop and ensure accountabilities are being undertaken and met in relation to its Mandate Letter, Service Plan and Annual Service Plan Report.

Job Requirements:
In order to be considered for this position, your application must clearly demonstrate how you meet the education and experience as outlined below:

  • Degree in related discipline, including but not limited to public administration, business administration, law, economics, social sciences and 3 years of recent, related experience, or equivalent combination.
  • Recent, related experience includes a combination of two or more of the following:

development of policy and/or legislation and regulations;

planning and coordinating complex projects/assignments;

concisely and persuasively writing a range of documents/content;

participating in (or preferable leading) internal and external stakeholder consultations;

  • Preference may be given to experience in international education and/or intergovernmental relations.
