BC First Nations Legally Challenging Site C Decision – CKLB

At least two First Nations in BC are planning to legally challenge the government of BC’s decision to move forward with Site C construction.

The project, which is behind schedule and over budget, has already used $4 billion, leading the government to and utilities commission conclude it would be a disservice to the people of BC to not finish it.

However both the Prophet River and West Mobely First Nations plan to challenge the decision, saying it is a violation of the treaty 8 agreement.

The Mikasew Cree of Fort Chipyewan also released a statement adamantly disagreeing with the decision.

Both Prophet River and West Mobely First Nations were unavailable for comment.
