Executive Council has appointed Joven Narwal to join TFN’s Judicial Council

Narwal is the founding partner of Narwal Litigation LLP, an Adjunct Professor at UBC Allard School of Law, Past President of the Vancouver Bar Association and a former Crown prosecutor.

He obtained an undergraduate and law degree from U.B.C. where he earned many awards for academic achievement and later obtained a Master of Laws (LL.M.) from Columbia University in New York City.

His practice is devoted to complex and serious cases where liberty and reputation are at stake, primarily in criminal law and areas of administrative law such as professional discipline and securities litigation.

In addition to having defended many professionals in legal, health and financial sectors, he is also retained by regulatory bodies to conduct investigations and practice reviews.

He takes on complex civil matters with criminal overtones involving civil forfeiture, fraud, intentional tortious conduct and has experience with various methods of alternative dispute resolution.

At the UBC Allard School of Law, he teaches two upper level courses on complex criminal litigation. In addition to other leadership roles in the legal profession, he has served as elected director, and the first visible minority president of the Vancouver Bar Association in its 128+ year history.

He is an elected Life Fellow of the Fellows of the American Bar Foundation, a global honorary society.

What is TFN’s Judicial Council?

The Judicial Council is one of the branches of the Tsawwassen Government under the Tsawwassen Constitution. The Judicial Council is responsible for resolving disputes that arise on Tsawwassen Lands, resolving disputes between Tsawwassen Members and elected officials, hearing appeals from administrative decisions, and determining the validity of Tsawwassen laws. Anyone who makes a claim to the Judicial Council or who answers such a claim is called a “litigant”. Depending on the nature of the dispute and which Tsawwassen Law applies, litigants may be Tsawwassen Members or could be non-Members.
