Ktunaxa among indigenous Nations to renew partnership accord with Interior Health – Total Country B104

Seven Indigenous Nations have renewed a partnership accord with Interior Health, including the Ktunaxa Nation.

Ktunaxa representative Gwen Phillips says the extension ensures nation members who live on reservations or in cities are able to access quality and culturally safe care that meets the needs of patients and families.

“My nation is able to work with the City of Cranbrook to use our influence, our jurisdiction to access resources and provide that type of service in the City of Cranbrook,” Phillips says. “The Street Angels program for example is one of my nation’s initiatives.”

The agreement lays out a series of shared objectives, including a holistic wellness approach, cultural safety and delivering improved health and wellness outcomes.
