MNBC: Call for Participants for Anti-Racism Focus Group
Jan 10, 2018
Help us take a stand!
Métis people encounter racism which often stems from a lack of awareness regarding our distinct language, culture, and heritage. There is also a general misconception that First Nations people’s rights supersede those of the Métis people in Canada and that a hierarchy exists amongst Canada’s Aboriginal groups. To remedy these issues, the “Fostering Métis Youth Engagement” Report by Jo Dumont called on MNBC’s Ministry of Youth to “develop and implement antiracism programs for Métis youth to ensure the cultural safety of Métis youth.” In doing so, MYBC has chosen to create an anti-racism video campaign to educate the general public about the racism Métis people face and to emphasize that the three distinct peoples, as recognized under the Canadian constitution, all bear equal rights.
The first 7 Métis people to express interest in joining our focus group will be chosen to guide us in creating a video campaign. Please email Cassandra Dorgelo at firstname.lastname@example.org if you are interested in participating.
PLEASE REGISTER NO LATER THAN JANUARY 11TH @ 430 PM
