The Fish & Wildlife Compensation Program (FWCP) is a partnership between BC Hydro, the Province of British Columbia, Fisheries and Oceans Canada, First Nations, and Public Stakeholders. Our mission is to conserve and enhance fish and wildlife impacted by existing BC Hydro dams. Saulteau First Nations is one of the partners of the FWCP and I wanted to raise awareness to Saulteau’s membership that we are currently accepting grant applications for fish and wildlife projects. Saulteau or someone in the community may be interested in applying for a grant to support a fish and wildlife project, so I want to spread the word through each of our First Nations partner communication channels.

Fish and wildlife grants available. Apply now at fwcp.ca All projects must align with our Action Plans available at http://fwcp.ca/region/peace-region/

The first step is to submit a mandatory Notice of Intent by Friday, Sept. 8, 2017. The Notice of Intent includes a brief project summary statement, tell us who you are and if you have any project partners and where you are proposing to do your project within our Peace Region boundary. Contact our Peace Region manager Chelsea Coady at http://fwcp.ca/contact/. We’d love to help you develop your grant application. All grant applications are due Friday, October 27, 2017.

We are currently funding 26 fish and wildlife projects valued at $2.2 million in our Peace Region. Learn more about the Fish & Wildlife Compensation program at www.fwcp.ca.

All the best, Chelsea
