Aboriginal Business & General Management Lecturer

The Sauder School of Business of the University of British Columbia is seeking applicants for one full-time lecturer position (non-tenure track) beginning July 1, 2017.

Qualifications:  The candidate will have demonstrated excellence in teaching complemented by a graduate degree in Business with significant business experience across a variety of industries and disciplines.

Preference will be accorded to candidates with a record of demonstrated teaching excellence or exceptional promise in teaching in Aboriginal business and other areas of interest.  The appointee will have a record of successful experience working with Aboriginal communities and a demonstrated capacity or clear potential in facilitating student learning about Aboriginal issues and perspectives. The incumbent will take an active role in the School’s growing program of mutually supportive and productive relationships in Aboriginal communities.

He/she will be competent in the use of educational technologies and confident enough to experiment with classroom technology. Excellent communication (both oral and written) and organizational skills are necessary, as is the ability to work effectively in academic, business, and Aboriginal environments.

Responsibilities: The successful candidate will assist the School in the development of its Aboriginal business curriculum and strengthening of its relations with Indigenous communities, scholars, and students, while focusing on teaching Aboriginal business content. He/she will be an active member of Sauder’s teaching community and the Ch’nook Centre for Indigenous Business Education http://www.sauder.ubc.ca/Programs/Chnook.

Duties: The incumbent will teach in the undergraduate, and MBA programs, contribute to other teaching and administrative initiatives of the Sauder School of Business, hold office hours, and participate in faculty meetings, professional development, and service activities as are normally expected in research-intensive universities.
