General Manager (Flexible Location)
I·SPARC is seeking a full-time General Manager. Working as a member of the senior management team, this individual maintains a diverse set of roles within the organization, including governance and board services, policy development and implementation, risk management, human resources management, operations and IT, and general support to the organization.
About I·SPARC: The Indigenous Sport, Physical Activity & Recreation Council (I·SPARC) is a provincial organization established for the purpose of improving the health outcomes of Indigenous people by supporting and encouraging physically active individuals, families, and communities. The programs and services delivered by I·SPARC are designed to build capacity and increase access to sport, recreation, and physical activity in First Nations, Aboriginal Friendship Centres, Métis Chartered Communities, schools, and other delivery agencies throughout British Columbia.
Competencies and Requirements
The ideal candidate will possess an extensive background in human resources management, policy development, and governance practices (not-for-profit). Qualifications include:
Skills and Knowledge
• Exceptional verbal, written communication, and presentation skills.
• Demonstrated ability to work in a performance-based environment with a proven track record of meeting targets and outcomes.
• Strong working knowledge of Human Resource practices, principles, and training strategies.
• Experience developing and implementing organizational policies.
• Experience implementing systems to ensure ongoing efficiencies with daily operations.
• Exceptional organizational skills with a proficiency in Microsoft applications (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
Soft Skills and Knowledge
• Think strategically and build consensus around a vision.
• Foster a positive team atmosphere among staff and volunteers.
• Work autonomously and collaboratively, take initiative, set priorities, organize work, and make independent decisions that align with I·SPARC’s mission, vision, and operational plan.
• Knowledge of the diversity of Indigenous cultures, identities, lived history, and community issues.
• An appreciation for how Indigenous peoples participation in physical activity and sport positively impacts the health and well-being of communities.
• Ability to effectively engage with all demographics (youth, adults, and Elders).
Term: Full-time employment contingent on annual funding
Salary: The salary range is $82,000 to $87,000 (includes a comprehensive health benefits package)
Location: Office space will be established in a location central to the successful candidate
