JOB OVERVIEW: Library Assistant, Indigenous & IDEA
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- Completion of a two-year Library Technician diploma from a publicly accredited post- secondary institution or combination of equivalent education, training and experience.
- Background in equity, diversity, inclusion, Indigenization, decolonization, reconciliation or lived experience.
- An understanding of Brian Deer classification is preferred.
- Relevant community-based and/or professional experience rooted in Indigenous communities, knowledges, and traditions is preferred.
- Training or experience in accessibility requirements for online resources.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Excellent oral and written communication skills including the ability to present information in a clear and concise manner.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills, demonstrated attention to detail.
- Knowledge/training in digital or physical accessibility and/or IDEA issues would be an asset.
- Demonstrated keyboarding skills, understanding of computer concepts and terminology, and experience with word processing software and file management systems
- Demonstrated experience at a basic skill level in Microsoft Excel or similar spreadsheet software.
- Ability to interact effectively with a variety of individuals with diverse backgrounds and needs.
- Ability to lift 30-50 pounds and move materials on carts.
