Western Canada Marine Response Corporation (WCMRC) is a Transport Canada certifiedResponse Organization, whose mandate is to ensure there is a state of preparedness in place and to mitigate the impact when an oil spill occurs. This includes the protection of wildlife, economic and environmental sensitivities, and the safety of both the responders and the public. Included among WCMRC’s customer base are oil handling facilities, barging companies, freighters visiting our ports, ferries, cruise ships, and US bound vessels traveling through Western Canadian waters.

We are seeking a Response Readiness Coordinator to join our Response Readiness team. This position is based in Duncan, B.C.

The Response Readiness Coordinator will be responsible for supporting the Response Readiness team in the planning and execution of certification and training activities. This position will also assist in developing geographic response strategies, stratification of sensitive areas, and developing and maintaining Area Plans and ICS tools.

To be successful in this role you will bring a minimum of one to three years of previous business experience, preferably in a response readiness or emergency response setting, completion of a post-secondary degree or diploma with a specialization in Biology, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. You will need to be a collaborative team player, able to coordinate and interact with multiple people and projects, and skilled at managing changing and shifting priorities. In addition, strong computer skills, including proficiency with all MS Office applications are required.
