Senior Manager, Communications
I·SPARC is currently seeking a Senior Manager, Communications. Working as a member of the senior management team, this individual maintains oversight of the organization’s communications and marketing, including media relations, website, social media, digital media, brand identity, and awareness. Additionally, the Senior Manager, Communications provides oversight of I·SPARC’s Recognition Program with the Coordinator of the Premier’s Awards for Indigenous Youth Excellence in Sport reporting to the Senior Manager.
About I·SPARC: The Indigenous Sport, Physical Activity & Recreation Council (I·SPARC) is a provincial organization established for the purpose of improving the health outcomes of Indigenous people by supporting and encouraging physically active individuals, families, and communities. The programs and services delivered by I·SPARC are designed to build capacity and increase access to sport, recreation, and physical activity in First Nations, Aboriginal Friendship Centres, Métis Chartered Communities, schools, and other delivery agencies throughout British Columbia.
Competencies and Requirements
The ideal candidate will possess an extensive background in communications and marketing. Specific qualifications include:
- Post-secondary degree with 5+ years experience working in the not-for-profit sector focused on communications, marketing, and event management (or combination of education and experience)
- Superior project and event management skills with a demonstrated ability to multitask, work independently, set priorities, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Exceptional verbal, written communication, and presentation skills
- Hands-on experience with content creation and implementing media, advocacy, social media, and marketing campaigns
- Creative design expertise in developing promotional materials and artwork including newsletters, publications, banners, and other collateral.
- Experience developing and managing annual budgets
- Expert knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, WordPress, and publishing/design software including Adobe Suite, MailChimp, and Canva
- Knowledge of the diversity of Indigenous cultures, identities, lived history, and community issues
- Willingness to maintain a flexible work schedule and available to travel throughout the province
- Successfully undergo criminal record and vulnerable sector checks
- Valid driver’s license
Term: This is a full-time permanent position.
Salary and Benefits: The salary range is $82,000-$87,000 annually, including a comprehensive health benefits package.
Location: Office space will be established in the Province of BC central to the successful candidate.
