Senior Policy Analyst
Salary: $72,000 – $100,000 annually

The Financial Management Branch (FMB) is responsible for developing and implementing financial management and general administrative policies for government financial administration and control. FMB works closely with government-wide financial, information technology and human resource management to maintain the overall policy direction for the provincial government.
The purpose of the Senior Policy Analyst is to provide leadership, expertise and support for the development, implementation and maintenance of government’s financial policy and legislative framework. The analyst develops financial management policies, procedures and guidelines to maintain government’s financial management framework. The analyst also provides financial policy advice and makes recommendations for corrective action when policies are not followed.
A strategic and effective problem-solver, you make recommendations for corrective action when financial policies and guidelines are not followed and provide corporate solutions for continuous improvements, keeping up to date on government-wide policy development and initiatives affecting the financial management governance policy framework. You possess strong leadership skills and the ability to collaborate in a team environment, providing advice on policies, guidelines and procedures, working with government key financial committees on policy issues and initiatives and in establishing strategic direction, and serving as an expert in financial management and administration best practice.
Qualifications for this role include:
- Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation, Masters of Public Administration (MPA), Masters of Business Administration (MBA), or Law degree and a minimum of 5 years of experience within a government environment in financial management, policy development and analysis, or legislation development. Preference may be given to applicants with more experience in this area.
OR
- An equivalent combination of relevant education and experience may be considered (e.g. undergraduate degree in commerce, business administration, economics or related field) and a minimum 5 years’ experience within a government environment in financial management, policy development and analysis, or legislation development.
