About this Opportunity
Reporting to the Surveyor of Taxes, the Taxation Officer is responsible for the administration of the Property Tax Roll, the preparation and distribution of the Property Tax Notices, as well as administering all property tax accounts and informing the Rate Payers.
The role of a Taxation Officer is to ensure that all taxes are paid in a timely and accurate manner, while also remaining compliant with all tax laws and regulations. They are responsible for assisting all aspects of the Nation’s tax compliance and planning, including the preparation of tax returns, the analysis of tax implications of transactions, and the implementation of tax strategies. They must be knowledgeable of all tax laws, regulations, and filing requirements, and be able to provide sound advice to the public on tax-related matters.
Education and Experience Requirements:
- Three (3) year post-secondary education in a related field or equivalent
- First Nation Taxation Administration Certificate
- Certificate in Local Government Administration
- Level two in the CMA or CGA program is considered an asset
- Minimum 3 – 5 years’ experience in property taxation
- Experience working with indigenous communities/people considered and asset

Application Details:
The salary range for this position is $57,000 – $85,600. Salary is commensurate with experience.
