Taxation Summer Student

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
- Must be a registered student, returning to studies in fall 2025
- Preferred areas of interest including Business, Economics, Assessments, Taxation, or
Finance - Experience working with indigenous communities/people considered an asset
REQUIREMENTS
- Acceptable Criminal Record Check required
- Maintains a high level of confidentiality and uses discretion on all matters relating to the affairs of the Westbank First Nation
JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILTIES
- Review and process British Columbia Assessment (BCA) data
- Enters appropriate tax information for tax notices (e.g. due dates, penalties, etc.)
- Confirms utilities fees and rates
- Ensure the processing of online payments and electronic home owner grants
- May be required to assist front desk cashier during peak times
- Performs other related duties as required and in accordance with the Westbank First Nation
policies, standards and procedures, and as directed by the Surveyor of Taxes
KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES
- Excellent knowledge of word processing tools and spreadsheets (MS Office Word, Excel
etc.) - Working knowledge of office equipment, computer hardware and peripheral devices
- Basic understanding of databases
- Great attention to detail
- Must demonstrate tact and firmness when collecting property taxes
- Good command of English both oral and written
The minimum hourly wage for this position is $20.00.
