B.C. Day, a provincial statutory holiday, is on Monday, Aug. 5, this year.

This is the culmination of Pride-oriented festivities that kick off across the country during June’s Pride Month. The local VanPride Society hosts the annual festival that wraps up with the West End parade on Sunday, Aug. 4.

The weekend’s events start off Thursday with an afternoon of pride-themed jazz co-hosted by the West End Seniors Network, then a queer wine social at Granville Island on Friday evening.
