Vancouver, British Columbia, February 7, 2024 — BC Métis Federation (BCMF) announced today the renaming of its Student Scholarship Program in memory of Greg Mazur. Greg, who was a member of the BCMF team for many years and a lifelong champion of the Métis, died suddenly in December. The program has been renamed to the Greg Mazur Student Scholarship Program in his memory.

Greg believed that educating the next generation of Métis should be a top priority and in his former role as Director of Industry Engagement, Greg was instrumental in setting up the scholarship program—from its inception all the way to launch. The program provides $1,500 scholarships to Métis students who are full BCMF members and are enrolled in a recognised post-secondary education program.

“Greg pushed hard for the establishment of the scholarship fund,” said Keith Henry, BCMF President. “His unwavering belief in the potential of Métis students, as well as his deep kindness and generosity, are values that we want to continue upholding in his honour.”
