Since Coastal First Nations-Great Bear Initiative began in 2004, we have worked closely with communities throughout the North and Central Coast and Haida Gwaii to build a conservation-based economy.

Our focus on community self-sufficiency and sustainable economic development, recognizing our Title and Rights, and protecting our culture and ecosystems, has never wavered during that time and last year was no different.

In our 2018 Annual Report, we highlight some of the innovative and collaborative efforts we’ve undertaken over the past year. From ensuring the passage of the Oil Tanker Moratorium Act to making major progress in developing two of our sustainable businesses–Coastal Shellfish and Great Bear Rainforest Essential Oils–we have much to celebrate.

“I want to express my sincere thanks to our Board of Directors for their continued leadership and guidance throughout the past year, and to our dedicated professional staff, project managers and other partners for their continued support as well. We would not be here without your hard work and dedication. Our success is our communities’ success.” – Chief Marilyn Slett, CFN-GBI President
