PRINCE RUPERT, BC – The Canada Infrastructure Bank (CIB) has closed a $60.7 million loan to support the development of the Indigenous-led South Kaien Import Logistics Park in British Columbia. This partnership with the Metlakatla Development Corporation (MDC) and the Prince Rupert Port Authority will help transform 56 acres of land near the Fairview Terminal into a state-of-the-art logistics facility.
The funding is part of CIB’s Indigenous Community Infrastructure Initiative (ICII) and will be used for critical site preparation work including heavy civil construction and bedrock levelling. This project will lay the foundation for future development that strengthens the Port of Prince Rupert’s role in Canadian supply chains, offering more capacity and flexibility for shippers.
