AGM 2019 Business Agenda & Schedule of Events.
There are many great highlights and events taking place at this year’s AGM.
Please review the Schedule of Meetings & Events to learn more AGM 2019 Business Agenda & Schedule of Events.
Among the many highlights, the MNBC Ministry of Métis Women BC is hosting two very important presentations: the Be More than a Bystander (BMTAB) Presentation and the Sashing our Warriors (SOW) Presentation on Friday, September 13th at the AGM.
BMTAB participation: Male-identifying attendees are encouraged to participate in this presentation hosted by Ending Violence Association BC (EVA BC) and facilitated by the BC Lions (JR LaRose & Will Loftus). The BMTAB presentation will focus on the importance of creating a safe environment for individuals, what it means to be more than a bystander, and how people can initiate change.
SOW participation: Woman-identifying attendees are encouraged to participate in this presentation hosted by the Sashing our Warriors Researchers (Dr. Natalie Clark, Patricia Barakas, & Robline (Robbi) Davey). The SOW presentation will focus on a high-level overview of and next steps for the Sashing our Warriors research which was the result of over 495 survey responses from Métis women and girls across the Province regarding their experience of violence.
The material will be shared during these sessions that might bring up memories, thoughts or feelings that can be settled with appropriate supports.
In our commitment to being trauma-informed, we have options available to support grounding and emotional regulation. These options include time with elders in an optional group, one to one time with elders, or with professional counsellors.
RSVP: Please confirm your attendance of the BMTAB and SOW events for Friday morning at the AGM? Participants attending these events must have already pre-registered for the AWM or AGM prior to this notice.
Note: Métis women citizens in Prince George that are interested in participating in the Annual Women’s Meeting can connect with Cassandra (cdorgelo@mnbc.ca) to have their name added to a waitlist.
