The Kairos Blanket Exercise explores the relationship between Indigenous and non-Indigenous people in Canada

Exploring historic relationships took centre stage for Saanich police staff who participated in a Kairos Blanket workshop Jan. 28.

“Tina Savea and her sons guided us through 500 years of history, where we stood on blankets representing the land, and took the role of historical First Nations, Inuit and Metis peoples, by reading cards and scrolls,” the department posted on social media. “A circle was then held where we shared our learning. We were grateful to take part in this inspirational experience, which promoted Indigenous history, culture and reconciliation.”

A south Island resident, Savea is a longtime facilitator of the Kairos Blanket Exercise, an experiential workshop that explores the relationship between Indigenous and non-Indigenous people in Canada.
