Simon Fraser University welcomes the federal government’s Budget 2019 investments in skills and talent development through programs that support work integrated learning, international study, student scholarships and Indigenous education.
SFU is also pleased to see significant new resources being provided to Western Economic Diversification Canada (WD) to build a more resilient, inclusive and diversified western economy. WD has been a key partner helping SFU to grow its innovation and business development capacities in areas such as advanced manufacturing, energy systems and health technologies.
“The new resources provided by this budget will enable SFU to better equip our students with the skills and talents they require to succeed in today’s dynamic world of work,” says SFU President Andrew Petter. “We also look forward to continuing to collaborate with WD and the federal government to find new and innovative ways to build and strengthen British Columbia’s economy.”
SFU joins other universities in acknowledging Budget 2019’s commitment to improve the quality of life for First Nations, Inuit and Métis Peoples in Canada, as well as ongoing support for research, fundamental science and innovation.
