A three-day film festival featuring Indigenous filmmakers from across Canada is happening next week.

The Skoden Indigenous Film Festival will take place on March 31 at SFU Surrey’s Prospera Credit Union Theatre and from April 1 to 2 at the SFU Goldcorp Centre for the Arts’ Djavad Mowafaghian Cinema.

Created in 2019 by Carr Sappier (Wolastoqew) and Grace Mathisen, SFU film alumni from the School for the Contemporary Arts, the festival features films that explore Indigenous cultures, experiences, and representations.

“Skoden represents a sense of happiness, inclusion, and a space where all filmmakers can feel like they are part of something that holds them up in respect,” says Sappier in a press release.
