April 18, 2015

The Unified Command post, led by the Canadian Coast Guard (CCG) and activated April 9 to coordinate a response to the pollution from the M/V Marathassa spill, will move from its current location at Port Metro Vancouver’s Canada Place offices to Fisheries and Oceans Canada’s regional headquarters at 401 Burrard Street, Vancouver, effective Sunday, April 19.

Unified Command coordinates all aspects of the responsive initiative through the collaboration of CCG and its partners: Transport Canada, Environment Canada, Port Metro Vancouver, Tsleil-Waututh  Nation, Squamish Nation, BC Ministry of Environment, Emergency Management BC, Vancouver Coastal Health, City of Vancouver, District of West Vancouver, District of North Vancouver, Western Canada Marine Response Corporation, and Focus Wildlife.

All partners wish to thank Port Metro Vancouver for hosting and caring for members of the Unified Command team for the past ten days.
