About the Organization

The Prince George Native Friendship Centre (PGNFC) is a non-profit, non-sectarian organization dedicated to servicing the needs of Aboriginal people residing in the Prince George area and improving the quality of life in the community as a whole. Offering a broad range of services, which includes educational, employment, health and social programs, the PGNFC has been providing culturally appropriate programming to meet the community’s unique and diverse needs for over 41 years.

PGNFC is a multifaceted organization employing over 200 people and has grown to be one of the largest and busiest community service delivery agencies in Prince George. Providing services to approximately 200,000 ‘Friends of the Centre’ annually, the PGNFC has seen many of their ‘Friends’ come through their programs and go on to become staff at the Centre.

About the Opportunity

The PGNFC is currently seeking a personable and professional Hospitality Leader to join the Smokehouse Kitchen and Catering team on a full-time basis in Prince George, BC.

Working directly with the Smokehouse Kitchen and Catering team and janitorial and reception staff, you will be responsible for providing a high level of service to customers ensuring their satisfaction. Using exceptional communication and administration abilities, you will ensure the efficient provision of services such as marketing, booking catering and hall rental contracts, overseeing our food truck and off-site catering. You will also provide support in the areas of venue supervision and human resources.

In order to be successful, you will need to meet the following qualifications:

Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent credits;
Experience in catering/banquet services as a host/server or in a commercial food facility;
Marketing experience;
Experience coordinating requests for catering, room and event bookings;
Superior customer service skills along with a respectful and mature attitude;
Ability to develop and maintain respectful, positive and supportive relationships with all staff, patrons, customers and vendors of PGNC;
Excellent organizational, communication and interpersonal skills;
Ability to work independently and within a mulit-disciplinary team;
Experience working with individuals who have barriers to employment;
Experience in handling cash, operating a register and completing invoicing; and
Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and e-mail.

Experienced working with Aboriginal groups/communities within a cultural context, you are able to work with a diverse clientele on both an individual and group basis. At a minimum, you must have a Class 5 driver’s licence with a willingness and ability to obtain a Class 4 driver’s licence. First Aid, Therapeutic Crisis Intervention, Suicide Intervention and Food Safe certifications are an asset.
