Local groups team up to support indigenous female entrepreneurs – Merritt Herald

Two indigenous women in Merritt are set to receive resources to turn their business ideas into reality.

Teck Highland Valley Copper Mine Operations (HVC) has partnered with the Merritt Small Business Centre, the Indigenous Women’s Business Network and Community Futures Nicola Valley to spearhead the Indigenous Women’s Business Incubator pilot project.

The program will offer a customized business support plan to the two women to help their businesses thrive, including a year of free office space at the Merritt Small Business Centre as well as business coaching, mentorship and marketing support.

Jacqueline Schneider, HVC’s senior community affairs officer, told the Herald the idea was inspired by similar incubators across Canada.
